Waste Management Drive
Littered cigarette buds can cause cancer.
Cigarettes are the most littered form of garbage in the country.
This world cancer day, we set out for our waste management drive and this time too, the most common litter on the road were stubbed cigarette buds.
As an organization, we are very close to the planet.
As we dug deep to understand the problems that a stubbed cigarette cause to our planet, we were surprised to learn that not only can these stubs litter the environment with toxic micro-plastics, but according to a new study, extinguished cigarettes emit almost 15 per cent toxic amounts of nicotine in the air and could continue to do so for a week.
This not only means cigarettes are terrible for the planet but also that their fumes can cause cancer and damage the health of even non-smokers.
When you look at the big picture, you realize that it’s not only the internet that keeps people connected and makes the world a smaller place, we as people are connected in more ways than one and our lives are linked.
We share the same rivers, breathe the same air and grow our food on the same #soil.
Hence, what we choose on an individual level matters…
