Nature knows no clones!

Nature knows no clones!

For a long time, we have been conditioned to see perfect, unblemished, brightly coloured as edible and delicious, and anything misshapen or imperfect as inedible. The time is certainly ripe for a change. Most of us are unaware of what and how natural produce looks and feels like. We assume it goes from the farm to the grocery store and all tomatoes are red, round, and perfect, all bananas are ripe bright yellow, and all big tender coconuts produce nutritious and tasty water, because that is just how they grow, which is far from the truth.

We have heard a few customers saying, “I order tender coconuts every day, but they are not always consistent in size”. It is obvious, isn’t it? Nature doesn’t standardize. If you observe a coconut tree, you will see that the coconuts on one tree itself have different sizes and shapes. And so are fruits like bananas.

The bananas grown in our Akshayakalpa farm are completely organic, they naturally ripen in a dark, humid environment, and are taken from the adult plant just before they are fully ripe. They are identical to the conventional ones but might not be as bright yellow in colour. Just like our natural selves, Akshayakalpa bananas have dark spots and lines in between their beautiful yellow skin. Just like the organic produce at our farms, our tender coconuts are also farm fresh, which we deliver straight from our farms with a personal tender coconut opener (coconut crown intact).

Akshayakalpa coconuts are farmed on land that gets quality organic manure, is properly irrigated year-round, and only produces tender coconuts after 6-7 years of maturation, despite the different sizes our tender coconuts have a particularly delicious flavour. We just let nature do its thing, while we respect and nourish our coconuts in the right ecosystem!

We strongly feel the beauty standards set for food are unfair and unrealistic. While industry after industry sets unrealistic standards, it’s time for us to embrace imperfection, to celebrate the beauty in it, the surprise factor and to know what is more important, in humans and food is truly what lies within. Everything else is fluff.
