Akshayakalpa’s coconuts come from organic farms where our farmers grow organic fodder for our cows. The coconut trees are local or native to the region, grown for years with organic manure and without being genetically modified.
Why are Coconuts important?
- Elaneer or tender coconut water is found in young green coconut. It occurs naturally in the fruit and contains 94% of water. Coconut water is slightly sweet with a subtle, nutty flavor. Tender coconut water is considered a natural electrolyte and is an instant energy pack of vitamins, minerals.
- Coconut is an integral part of South Indian dishes. One hundred grams of this product provides 363 to 669 kcal. Coconuts are a basic ingredient in Malayan, Indian, and Indonesian cooking: the pulp is grated and added to pies, rice, meat or fish, chutneys, Indian curries, Kadi, and Khandvi.
- Copra or dried coconut is the dry section of the meat of the coconut (Cocos Nucifera). Over time, the milk inside the coconut matures and dries, giving way for copra. The resulting dry coconut is off-white in colour and is higher in saturated fat than dairy. It has no cholesterol and is very low in sodium.
Storage
Akshayakalpa Organic tender coconut has a shelf life of 3-5 days from the day of delivery and must always be refrigerated to retain freshness. Once opened, it should be consumed within an hour for better taste.

Akshayakalpa Organic Whole Dry Coconut (Copra) doesn’t need to be stored at any special temperature. It has a shelf life of up to 3 months within its shell. Once the shell is opened but not cut, copra has a shelf life of 45 days. Once it is cut open it is best used within 10 days.
