Choosing the right banana
“Education is the most powerful weapon that you can use to change the world” – Nelson Mandela
This quote holds true for all parts of life including understanding the food we eat.
With an effort to create awareness and educate people about food safety, the Environmental Working Group creates 2 lists every year that take the world by storm– ‘The Dirty Dozen’ and ‘The Clean 15’ (https://lnkd.in/e82e_jS)
The Dirty Dozen’ is a list of 12 fruits and vegetables that have been found to have the highest amounts of pesticide residue and are thus most important to buy organic. ‘The Clean 15’, as the name suggests, have the lowest amounts of pesticide residue.
Unfortunately, one of the most loved fruits worldwide – Bananas – are not featured on either of these lists, making it tougher to decide whether organic green bananas or organic ripe bananas have any real advantage over their non-organic counterparts.
Choosing to eat organic is a conscious choice that can have a multitude of positive benefits for our wellbeing. Our body is the only place we have to live in, so why not protect it in every way possible?
