Why does the thickness of Akshayakalpa Organic Milk vary?

We have now for long been used to the foods presented in a specific manner. We prefer foods that look perfect and pleasing to the ones that look a little less perfect. For example, we prefer perfectly shiny red apples and perfectly bright yellow bananas. These foods may not necessarily be higher in nutritional value. Sometimes, they do more harm than good. There are numerous chemicals and processes that the foods must go through to look that way.

Same goes with milk. Today, most of the milk we consume goes through processes such as homogenization and standardization to give a uniform, thick texture. Homogenization is a process of breaking fat globules so that they spread uniformly in the milk. When you heat homogenized milk, there will be no cream separation. Pure cow milk has about 3.5% to 4.3% of fat content depending on various factors. The milk otherwise available in market is mostly standardized by adding cream to give you a 4.5% fat content and consistent thickness.

Cow diet is also an essential factor that contributes to the texture and thickness of the milk. In conventional dairying, cows are fed things that do not match their natural diet to produce thicker milk. Sometimes cows are even restricted from drinking water so that they give thick milk. However, this only causes stress in the cows. It leads to poor cow health leading to poor quality of milk. We at Akshayakalpa, understand that to produce organic milk that it is healthy and not just healthy-looking, the cows need to be healthy.

Our cows are not tied; they are always left free. They have access to feed, fodder and clean drinking water. The water they drink is clean and pure. The cows are free to eat by their choice. They eat what they want and how much they want. We don’t treat them with antibiotics or growth hormones.

Milk produced by such cows is what nature intends. We supply the milk the way it is; we do not alter its natural state. This is wholesome to us.

Natural processes don’t give constant outcomes. Like how every human is different, naturally fed cows give milk differently in summer and winter. On a hot summer day, a cow consumes lesser food and drinks a lot of water. This leads to the lower fat content in milk. A human body doesn’t require a high amount of fats in hotter temperature. On a hot summer day, we too drink more water and tend to eat less. We believe it is beneficial for us to be the way nature intends us to be.
